Portland Direct Holidays Have Now Closed

Portland Direct had been selling package holidays since 1979 to consumers who were a little savvy when it came to finding a holiday bargain. However in a strategic review of their business, TUI Travel plc, the owners of the Portland Holidays brand decided to close it down and concentrate on their core brands of Thomson & First Choice Holidays.

Portland Direct Holidays were a hugely successful package holiday company offering over 300 hotels and apartments at over 50 destinations, with flights from over 20 UK airports. Their portfolio of holidays is now available with Thomson.

Portland Direct Holidays Ended in April 2011 - So Let's Go To Thomson

For the 2011 summer season, Thomson has some great offers available. Now that unrest in Tunisia and Egypt has been resolved, it's never been a better time to try out those 2 destinations with prices now reduced to entice holidaymakers back to both countries.

Featured Hotel - Hotel El Tope, Tenerife

A real gem from the old Portland Holidays portfolio is the Hotel El Tope in Puerto De La Cruz in Tenerife. The hotel sits majestically high in the resort, but is just a very short taxi ride down to the resort centre. The El Tope was once part of the Thomson gold range a few years ago and also featured in the Portland Holidays brochure for many years. It's now available to book with Thomson and is now available for families now that is is no longer part of the 'Gold' range of Thomson Holidays.
